CdA Optimisation:
use CFD to take your aero to another level

You’ve already improved position with a bike fit, some Aero-DIY or a BioRacer AERO session.
Now we have AiRO CFD to reduce your drag using proprietary aerodynamic modelling.

Remote or 1-2-1 at SouthFork Cycles, allows you maximum aero gains and competitive prices.

CFD TESTIMONIAL 01

New position is so much more comfortable, and amazingly, more aero. Peace of mind that the changes didn't make an already aero position slower. I've been able to compare race pics to CFD model positioning to check against watts saved (am I really riding as aero as I think?). I knew the Rudy Wingdream helmet was fast as pros were using it; using CFD I saw a 34 watt save, totally justified the cost, I don't think I would have bought it without seeing the watt saving!

CFD TESTIMONIAL 02

I was really excited to have the opportunity to get involved in CFD testing. My TT helmet had served me well but it was in need of changing so having the ability to take the guess work out of choosing a new one was great. This combined with some small positional changes has helped lower my CdA and placed me in a more comfortable position. It was also a very positive and rewarding experience.

What this adds on top of BioRacer Aero Day or your previous bike fit, track or tunnel session

  • Remote & repeatable
  • We run CFD (computational fluid dynamics) using "cloud" super computers to analyse your photos, fit dimensions and position data.

  • Moves beyond “looks fast”
  • You get measurable CdA "evidence" to choose position & helmet.

  • Stacks on your previous service
  • Perfect add-on to BioRacer, track, tunnel or DIY sessions.

  • Unique helmet roster
  • Access to 25 helmet options with ABUS, Scott & Trek options coming.

Typical savings: ~~12-24W at race speed
(varies by your baseline, speed and total upgrade budget).

How the “runs” work

Each simulation is one controlled CFD test run. Most meaningful position changes need around 6–10 runs to converge (we test → narrow → confirm).

  • 1. Position optimise
  • 6–10 runs to optimise a change you can actually hold.

  • 2. Helmet testing
  • Helmet shortlist or full roster (25 options as of Sept 2026).

  • 3. Buffer runs
  • Tie-breakers + sanity checks (because real life isn’t perfect).

Remote means you can do this from home - no travel and easy to run more sims 6 weeks or 6 months later, upgrade or look at new helmets in the menu when they arrive.

This service is ideal if you’ve already had a standard bike fit with only visual aero advice that it "looks fast" or the helmet is "looking quick".

Your build summary

TOTAL RUNS 10
TOTAL £225
A position optimisation typically needs 6–10 runs. With this build you have enough budget for ~1 position block plus a meaningful helmet shortlist.
What you’ll provide us:

Fitting measurements, side/front photos (short video optional), race target (distance/watts/time), and any constraints (comfort, UCI, Sprint Tri Draft legal, etc).

If you’ve done CFD before we can use your "twin".
If you've done BioRacer Aero or a bike fit elsewhere we can use some of that data.

Clicking "Make your booking" produces a pre-filled email for you to complete additional details, add position pictures/video and then send it to us.

FAQs

What does it mean by a riders CdA?

In simple terms: “A” is your effective frontal area; “Cd” is how cleanly air flows around you and the bike. The product is CdA - your “how hard it is to push through air” number. This service is about choosing the setup that produces the best CdA outcome, while staying comfortable and sustainable.

Is this service remote only?

Remote is the default for the standard CFD packages. FIT-CFD is the in-person option at Southfork Cycles: position check first, then a 2-hour CFD block, with follow-up runs used afterwards.

What is the up to date Menu of helmets?

We can do anything from a shortlist to the full roster. A typical “shootout” is ~10 helmets, then re-test the top few if needed.
Premium Aero gives room for deeper helmet testing and tie-breakers; if you want the full roster, just tell us and we’ll quote the runs needed.
New helmets are being added every month.

How big are the gains really?

Many athletes see meaningful improvements—often around ~20-25W at race speed when you combine position + helmet + tidy details. Your results depend on baseline position, speed, constraints and what you’re willing to change.

What do I need to prepare?

Your position measurements, a few photos/video angles, race target, your current helmet details. You will be sent a link to a webpage where you fill in all your measurements and requirements.
